New Ranch Home Owners!

Last fall we became home owners! We came across this gorgeous Ranch home built in 1960 which has been abandoned for over 20 years. That's right! We basically came across a time-capsule gold-mine!

Our first tour, we fell in love with the home. Next thing I know, we were placing our bid, followed by our acceptance and keys in just weeks.

Everything in our home was kept original and untouched. From the flooring down to the handles and knobs, everything was straight from 1960.

Here is our gorgeous home with our newly thrifted Vintage Pedal Car.

Original Pink Bathroom of course!

 

Original wood cabinet kitchen that went perfectly with our vintage pink appliances that we had in storage. We had a pink fridge, pink stove top, pink oven and pink dishwasher.

Our gorgeous dining room that has a panoramic window with a view of the mountain tops. We are located at the start of the mountain range.  

 

And of course, the best thing for any Disney nerd like myself....our neighbors are fellow Disney nerds. They shaped their bushes into a Disney train along with Disney characters: Dumbo in front followed by Mickey, Donald, Goofy, Pluto and Pinocchio.  

Cracked China? Turn it into a Bird Feeder

Cracked china in the cupboard? Don't fret ladies! Turn that still gorgeous tea cup and saucer into a lovely bird feeder. Birds are starting to sworm our gardens and what better way to feed them but in exquisite style.  I got a chance to turn my beautiful, yet sadly cracked, Vintage Navajo Royal China Tea Cup and Saucer into a homemade birdfeeder.




Her is what you first need to get started:
(1) Cracked China - Tea Cup and Saucer Plate
(2) Glue Gun and Glue Sticks (both the mini gun and large gun work for this project)
(3) Plant Prop- can be purchased from any hardware or home improvement store. I noticed that Wal-Mart and Target also has these in their garden section.

Steps:

1. First, make sure your china pieces are clean, washed and dried properly.

2. Then glue your cracked china with the glue gun; if you want it extra secured you can reinforce the glued areas later with Super Glue for extra hold. I did that to the areas on the cracked china.

3. Once your cracked pieces and glue are done drying, glue the cup and saucer together. Put as much glue fro the glue gone on there as possible. The more the better! Wait for it to completely dry (about 10 minutes to be safe)

4. Next, start placing the bottom of your saucer plate onto the top of the plant prop. Make sure the sizing aligns correctly. If you need to adjust the width of the plant props circle, just take a pair of pliers and make your adjustments.

5. Once you have made your adjustments, glue the bottom of your saucer plate with as much glue as possible directly where the plant prop will sit. Then place the plant prop onto the glued area.

6. I suggest placing a wash cloth onto a high counter or table and placing the bottom of the saucer and plant prop directly on it to dry properly without moving any of the glued areas out of place. This will allow your new creation to dangle off the table or counter and dry by itself.

7. Give it about 20 minutes. You can reinforce the plant prop and saucer with some super glue. I did.

8. Take your lovely bird feeder outside and stick it in the ground by pushing it in as much as possible ( about 8 to 10 inches deep.) This keeps it from leaning. Then place your wild bird seeds in it and enjoy!

Pinup Parade in the Park

Pinup Girl Clothing and Disneyland are two of my top favorites things on earth...and when you put them together you get an awesome day called "Pinup Parade in the Park." This year's meet-up event, hosted by Pinup Girl Clothing, was held on Sunday, April 16th, 2015, at Disneyland. The meet-up was a day filled with pinup driven Disney Bounding. From a Pinup Captain Hook to a fun Pinup Popcorn Stand theme poodle skirt, the Disney Bounds were both fun and creative. Throughout the day I kept turning my head to get a glimpse of these wonderful dress-up ideas.

As for me, I dressed up as Dumbo: The Flying Elephant Ride! I wanted to go for something creative, new and down-right cute! Dumbo has a special place in my heart. So of course, my choice for Disney Bounding was clear...Dumbo! Since the ride is one of my favorite attractions at the park, I couldn't resist channeling the ride into my skirt inspiration. I will post my skirt progress later.

The best part of this event is the ability to finally meet in person your fellow instagram friends and make brand new friends along the way. I had such a blast!

Dapper Day Spring 2015

Dapper Day Spring 2015 was sure one for the books! It was so much fun and full of so many new amazing memories, especially since it was also our two year wedding anniversary. The hubby and I started our day at Disneyland around lunch time and still had enough time to enjoy the "Dapper" festivities. Of course, we headed to Disneyland park first and enjoyed a stroll through the park, while finishing it off with a funnel cake and mint julep. We then headed towards the Vintage Expo that was being hosted in the Grand California Hotel at the Disneyland Resort. The vintage expo had a ton of great vintage and reproduction vendors. Wish I had more time to shop around. We then had reservations at the Napa Rose restaurant at the Grand California hotel, which was perfect for our anniversary. The dinner was so romantic and fancy...just perfect!

I wore my Vintage Faux Fur, which was such an amazing find! I was able to score that at the thrift store. It seems to be hand made and even comes with pockets! I am totally anti-fur so this was perfect since it's fake! I also wore my vintage blush pink dress and sherbet pink pumps. My hubby is looking very dapper in his vintage ensemble, all the way down to his vintage bamboo handles umbrella. We were ready for those spring showers, but luckily there wasn't much more than just a few sprinkles or two. We can't wait for the next Dapper Day coming this Fall!

Tiki Oasis 2014

 For some odd reason my blogger from my desktop is wacky and I can not publish a thing but I am finally back on! This time I will be writing about the amazing time the Hubby and I had at Tiki Oasis 2014. We headed down to Sunny San Diego, which is just about two and a half hours away from where we live. Pulling into the Crowne Plaza is always so exciting...like Viva Las Vegas! YOu know you are driving into a weekend getaway with lovely music and friends. Of course I jumped at the chance of being able to where every piece of Hawaiian vintage I had in my closet. Let's face it, summer or not, Vintage Hawaiian threads in our closet don't get much wear as we would all hope.

We arrived on Thursday night after a long day at work. Friday I got up bright and early to get ready for the Pinup Girl Boutique Fashion Show! I had the privilege of being part of their lovely fashion show that Doris Mayday put together with all her lovely staff from their boutique. The show took place along the pool which was a blast. My first outfit for the fashion show was the Lauren top in a beautiful deep blue and the Kinky Box skirt from their Hawaiian Capsule collection.

 

My second outfit was this lovely Hawaiian sarong dress from Micheline Pitt's Deadly Dames line. I loved the feel of this dress and it was sooooooo comfy...plus super sexy! I had such a blast at this fashion show.

 

One of my favorite pieces that I wore was this beautiful vintage Hawaiian mermaid dress. It fits like a glove and I received so many compliments on it. I wish I could wear this more often. I was able to match it up to some amazing coral colored accessories. My next post will be about my experience in meeting the great Rolly Crump!!!

Rusty's 1st Birthday Party!

My son (pet son) just turned 1 and of course we threw him a birthday bash fit for a doggie king! =)  My entire family came to celebrate...along with many gifts for the pup of the day. It was a blast! I even had party favors. They were "doggie bags" filled with puppy food (which were Reese's Coco Puffs Cereal and bone shaped sugar cookies.)

Temecula Wines

An experience I was not able to blog about (due to my busy life) was of Leoness Winery. We took a lovely wine tour throughout Temecula's beautiful family owned wineries...but one truly stuck with me. The Leoness family own a beautiful and elegant grape vineyard and winery. It was such a beauty! The wines were like nothing I have every tasted in my life. We have never purchased cheap wine since! It really is not the same.
