Good Ol' Farrell's Ice Cream Parlour!

Once upon a time, many many moons ago, my parents used to take me to an Ice Cream Parlour called Farrell's in Rosemead, CA. This was the highlight of my childhood. The servers would chant "home-made" songs and bang a drum as they brought out your "Belly-Busting" ice cream. Well, they were shut down (all of them) for many years, and just last year they started popping back up again throughout California. They finally opened one in Rancho Cucamonga, close to us.

We headed down there with my folks as a little Engagement celebration. The resturaunt is true to it's roots with it's classic soda shoppe decor. The resturaunt has it's original traditionals...banging drum and all!

My Father and Mother joining us at Farrell's!

Then a group of servers came to our table to sing us a funny engagement song with us as the center of attention! Very funny moment.

Then a balloon artist came to our table to make it official...and make us a balloon ring! =)

Of course Albrech had to get his hat...like every other child in the resturaunt! He was very happy! I LOVED it!

If any of you are interested in visiting one of the very many Farrells resturaunts I can assure you that you are sure going to enjoy yourselves. Here is the info:

What's your childhood resturaunt you won't ever forget?

    1. Thank you! Since you live close you should definitely check it out. It is fun! It is nice even if you just want to get a scoop of ice cream. I have been dying to go to Clifton's! My friend always talks about how that was her resturaunt growing up as well. From the pictures I have seen I can tell I will love it!

  2. I very much remember the Farrell's Ice Cream Parlor in Rosemead. It was such a vibrant, exciting and celebratory event whenever we came down to visit my grandparents in Temple City when i was a kid in the late-70's, and they took us to Farrell's. I remember for certain events, the servers would carry out ice cream on an ambulance stretcher with sirens. I loved the kazoos, pin-stripes and loads of ice cream. THANK YOU for posting and sharing! I must go back in time and check out the Farrells in Rancho Cucamonga next time I am up that way from San Diego. Perhaps a walk about the LA Arboretum or gardens at Huntington Library and end the day at Farrells. Did you ever record shop at Moby Disc on Huntington Blvd? Would love to hear more of your memories around the Rosemead/Arcadia/Temple City/Pasadena area! Much Love + Cheers!!! :)
