Rusty got Zero-ed!

I have been planning on our Halloween costumes for quite some time...and when we adopted Rusty we knew our little family had to be Jack, Sally and Zero. Unfortunately Albrech had to work on Halloween, but I was able to dress up with Rusty and take him to the Petco Pet Costume Contest....where he WON! I couldn't have been happier. I handmade his costume. Mine was purchase for only $3 at the thrift store, wig and all!

My new Baby!!

This summer we spontaneously decided to adopt another fury friend. We thought it was time for another doggy baby. We headed to an adoption event being held at the Glen Helen Park in Devore, just blocks from our house. I immediately fell in love with a blonde cocker spaniel that was just waiting to go home with someone. As soon as we were given the opportunity to meet him we were sold! Minutes later he was in the car with us and on his way to his new Casa! We named him Rusty because his color...plus we are obsessed with the movie Cars...Rusteeze! hehe. His golden locks are to die for and he is truly a bundle of joy!

Trip down south...

Recently we took a trip to San Diego with our dear friends, Leo and Mayra. We went for just a weekend. We took our overnight bags down south to a lovely hotel named The Lafayette. What a charm this hotel was...and my favorite part...so HISTORICAL! The Lafayette started off as a pool club in the 40s (I believe it was the 40s) and it's major supporter was BOB HOPE! When I learned that I almost died because of couse Albrech and are a huge fans of the big nose...I mean Bob! Right after we checked in we started to head up to our rooms and can you believe it...the rooms were themed after old artist from the 30s through the 50s. Of course we almost fainted we thought we were getting the Lucy and Ricky room, but we ended up with Grace Kelly. Good enough for me!

We enjoyed the night with a night cap at this cute little lounge next door...I forget the name now. The next morning we headed down to old town San Diego and enjoyed a rockabilly car show filled with classics, customs and motorcycles. It was a short but sweet weekend!

I am a Librarian!

I have been away for a while...unfortunately like always. I could never find time to just sit and write a post or two.
I have always been in search of a dream job for myself...and on that list of dream jobs was a job as a Librarian! In August of this year I got that dream job! Woohoo! I am now an Elementary School Librarian. This is a dream come true and such a blessing for me. I have always loved my home buisness with a passion but this is just the cherry on top. I have been away for that reason...my job has been my new #1! It's amazing I get to go to work with Dr.Seuss, Anne Frank, Eric Carle, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and so much more! What a dream!

Shooting at the Wig Wam

About a month agao I had the pleasure of shooting five lovely ladies at the classic Wig Wam motel in Rilato, CA. It's the classic Route 66 Must-Do pit stop in our neck of the woods! Route 66 is really dear to my heart...we literally live on the Route 66 mother road here in San Bernardino. So it was such an exciting shoot that I decided to finally set up and do. Here are a few teasers of our day.

It's official!

Finally, the day came where we put deposits on our venue and church and set the date! This past Wednesday we set the date for our wedding, June 2nd, 2013. We couldn't be any happier. We booked the church of our dreams...the Fleur De Lis Chapel in Upland, CA. I was so set on this church because of it's vintage charm. The main thing I really was looking for in a chapel was the classic wedding bells...who doesn't want to get married to the classic bells ringing!? This chapel has it all. We met with the lovely Liza from the Chapel and she set everything up for us. Right after that we headed down to our original venue choice and booked it! Ahhhh....it's really coming together. I couldn't be happier. Here is a pic of our beautiful church.
I snatched this off their site.

Casablanca on the big screen!

On March 21st  we headed to the Ontario Theatre for the special viewing of my all time favorite epic movie, Casablanca! This all time classic stars the talented and handsome Humphrey Bogart (swoons) and Ingrid Bergman filmed in 1942. I couldn't wait for this TCM special event. Theatres all across the country were gearing up for this one day special event. Albrech and myself saw Casablanca on the big silver screen once before on Valentine's Day at the Downtown Disney Theatre a few years back. It was so exciting! It was once even more exciting this time! There was a great introduction done by TCM's very own Robert Osbourne. I practically begged for the poster that was greeting us all at the entrance but the managers wouldn't budge! Boo!

My Birthday! (Part 2)

The actual day of my 26th Birthday I celebrated it with family. The cool thing about my birthday is that I share it with my Grandfather. We were both born on April 27. My grandfather celebrated his 81ST birthday!!!! We all gathered at my grandparents house for cake and presents. It was a blast! The hubby got a custom cake made for us from my favorite old bakery in town, Noyes Bakery. They have a custom made flavor that I adore called Pink Champagne!

My 27th Birthday(Part 1)

The day before my 26th Birthday the hubby took me to my FAVORITE restaurant of all time...Northwoods Inn! I grew up in the Rosemead area most all my life but we live over an hour away so it isn't as easy to head down to this all time favorite of ours. Albrech surprised me with this pit stop during my "Birthday Adventure" as he called it. We made it in perfect timing for their Happy Hour where appetizers were only $3.98 and their famous cheese bread (the only reason I even eat there) was only .25 cents a slice!!! So of course we loaded up on tons of appetizers and bread...plus a HUGE piece of Mud Pie for under 25 bucks! Amazing!

Then after dinner, the hubby took us to Disneyland...our home away from home, to end the night. I of course received the annual birthday badge, but we were pleasantly surprised to receive the Honorary Citizens Badges. It was the end to a perfect day!

A time away...

Sorry for the backup on Posts! I have been busy with family...and unfortunately some bumps along the road. We recently lost our baby boy, Bear. He was diagnosed with Cancer so we had to make the unfortunate decision to put him down to stop his suffering. This was the hardest thing for me to do. It has really got us down. We don't have children so this was such a large loss for us. He was our pet son, if you will. Both my Uncles are in the ICU for heart problems, which was a huge hit to our family. So now that things have been getting a little bit easier...day by day, I have decided to return to the web world and start blogging once again!

Wanted to share. =) In case any of you are interested in our photography and the print products we offer please contact me @ andyseyecandy@hotmail.com or online at www.facebook.com/andreamariaphotography

Thifting Treasures

Haven't been on for quite some time but the first thing I wanted to blog about after returning was my recent Thrift findings. I took the whole day for thrifting..I ended up taking a whole scavenging trip from my house to Covina, which is well over an hour drive. Hit as many thrift stores as possible.

I first found this vintage Disney Doc Pencil and Crayon Sharpener...my readers already know I have a Vintage Disney Obsession. =)  Found this gem for only $3 dollar. It is even Signed at the bottom and is from Japan!!

Next I found this lovely Rattan Woven Clutch! While all the other lovely vintage ladies collect Lucite....I collect Wicker and Rattan! Ha! This was only $1!!!! I couldn't help but scream and scare everyone at the shop around me.

Next in Pomona I found this lovely Pot and Candle Holder Mid Century Set! Only $5 plus 25% off! It was a steal!

Next I found this AMAZING vintage Navy Blue saucer hat! I was in love! It was a bit steep for my taste...$30 bucks! But I decided to go for it. This type of piece is not an easy find at a thrift shop so I went for it.

Last but not least I found this amazing Vintage Mermaid Wall Hanging!!! These are ridiculously expensive online and hard to come by...but brace yourself...are you sitting down? Only .75 CENTS!!!!!!!! This shop needs a lesson in Vintage 101.

Thanks for joining me in this venture of vintage treasures!

Our Disneyland Engagement Photoshoot...

About a month ago we headed out to Disneyland for our Engagement Photoshoot! I was set about having them taken at Disneyland. I was searching for the right photographer for almost two months! Being a photographer myself it was probably the most hardest decision to make. One night my Fiance told me, "I don't want anyone taking them but you!" He was right...the best person for the job was me! I had all the tools for the job...a clicker and  a tripod! Bingo! We were set! I appreciate my fellow colleges but I am so picky and perfectionist with that aspect of my life...photography!

Here is what we came up with...sorry if in some you can see the clicker. Hehehehe...

The end of the night...we decided to take a mini shoot in our bedroom. I loved the way they came out!

Being interviewed about thrifting!

So the other day I went on my weekly thrift hunts and headed to a local Salvation Army. There was a county video blogger namer Laura who has her own series of video blogs called "On The Streets With Laura." She goes around town asking her question of the week and this week her question was "Why should you shop at a Salvation Army Store rather than any other thrift store?" I finally got the nerve to post the video. I look so funny!

Vintage Family Pictures...

The other day I visited my Grandmother and she had the sudden urge to go through all the family photos. I was lucky enough to pick up a few to scan onto the computer for myself.

I never thought she had any of my beloved Great Grandfather, but sure enough she did! I couldn't help but ask to take it home for just a day so that I could repair it on photoshop. I just thought I should share a vintage picture of my Great Grandfather Manuel Zelada...my Abuelito Meme! This picture was taken for his soccer team in Guatemala. The picture dates back to before 1920. My Great Grandfather is the handsome one all the way to the right.

The second one is of my Mom (left), my uncle Edgar (2nd), my Grandmother Victoria (3rd), and my Uncle Manuel (last). The little girl is my cousin...I don't remember her name right now.
This picture was taken in Guatemala in the mid 60s. My Mom was a hairstylist and makeup artist and had just opened her own salon at the time of this picture.

It's amazing to look at old pictures and know that you have a connection with the picture.

Wedding Detour...

So a few weeks ago we had the bitter sweet pleasure of changing our wedding venue. I initially wanted to get married in Palm Springs, but everywhere was so expensive! Palm Springs means alot to us...we practically lived there for over 2 years because Albrech used to work in Palm Springs. We thought it would be perfect. Well after doing further research and not giving up...I found our new venue! It is such a steal!!! I could not believe how cheap the venue was for both the reception and ceremony.

Here is a little peek into our location...

Happy 27th Birthday to my Hubby!

February 9th was my hubby's 27th birthday! It was a beautiful day filled with family and loved ones. I just wanted to share a few photos of the lovely time we had. =)

We enjoyed a day with family...and he got to enjoy two cakes!

He first got a suprise party from my grandparents and parents...
He got tons of presents from my parents and grandparents.
Then he had his second birthday party at his moms with all his siblings! It was a day full of fun!

We even stopped by our favorite sushi place around the corner...Sushi Tomo! We are regulars, so the owner came out with a Birthday gift of his own. How sweet!

Deep Fried Green Tea Ice Cream! Yummy!
