Disneyland 60th Diamond Celebration

I couldn't help but join in on the fun for the 60th anniversary of the Disneyland Park, my home away from home. To kick off this season's celebration they hosted a 24 hour event in both Disneyland and California Adventure. I was there for the 50th anniversary, and every mini celebration in between. The 50th was amazing and full of all things Gold! This decade marker celebration included all things sparkly and diamond.

As I was walking in at 5 in the morning.
Myself and Pluto during the 50th anniversary in 2005.
The park opened on July 17th, 1955, but this year's celebration kicked off on May 22nd, intentionally for the Memorial Day weekend rush. I woke up at 3 am and headed to the park. The line wasn't too bad, but by 6 am it was packed! I luckily got in before then and made it straight to the shops of course, where I was able to score some pretty amazing 60th merch. I was looking forward to some amazing kick-off performances, but there was just a DJ and mini-fireworks show to start the day at 6 a.m. During the 50th anniversary I was able to see Julie Andrews who was on stage in front of the castle for the celebration, including a performance by Christina Aguilera. I headed straight to the Haunted Mansion to catch my first glimpse of the mysterious Hatbox Ghost. He was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! Before you even turn the corner to see him, you can hear his evil chuckle. It was awesome!  I then met up with my friend Kat, and we continued the fun by taking advantage of every photo op and of course buying more 60th merch. Our biggest hunt was to find every single popcorn bucket we could find. We scored the highly desired Cinderella carriage bucket, and the miners coach. Next on our list is the Mickey Balloons. The "Paint The Night" light parade was worth the waist, including the new Forever Fireworks. The tribute to Walt and his dream was very heartfelt and got me very emotional (I'm a big Walt nerd.)  I never made it passed midnight (I am getting old, haha!) If you ever get a chance, make sure to make your way to the Disneyland Resort to take advantage of the 60th Diamond Celebration.
